FEDERAL MINIMUM WAGE 

STATUS AND OUTLOOK

On May 25, 2007, President Bush signed into law H.R. 2206, the U.S. Troop Readiness, Veterans' Care, Katrina Recovery, and Iraq Accountability Appropriations Act.  The law raised the federal minimum wage to $5.85 an hour 60 days after enactment (July 24, 2007).  It increased to $6.55 one year later (July 24, 2008) and will increase to $7.25 on July 24, 2009.
